These two… I’m going to try to find the words for their spring engagement session at Duke Gardens… because we absolutely just LOVE them!!
These two amazing humans met on Bumble and their first date involved Steven being her tour guide through the St. Louis Zoo. Katie was having such a fabulous time at the zoo and invited him to a drag show that evening. They enjoyed the show together and ended up spending close to 8 hours together on their first date! Once Katie matched to complete her medical residency at Duke, they moved from St. Louis to Durham. They brought their adorable three-legged pup Honey and anxious bird Ping with them on this new adventure. And we got to meet both of their furbabies!
We a little worried about the early spring weather for their engagement session, but we couldn’t have asked for a better setting than Duke Gardens! Okay, well we could have asked for a few degrees cooler. The week prior was filled with 50 degree days. Then their engagement session was a hot 80 degrees and had us all sweating. These two took the heat in stride and we had a blast goofing off and listening to their infectious laughs! They make each other laugh so easily and they were such a joy to hang out with.
After their session we all went to Geer Street Garden for some delicious dinner. We chatted about Steven’s love for trying new hot sauces; and Alex was thrilled to find another human who watches Hot Ones. Katie and I bonded over our low heat intolerance in foods but I of course ended up trying just a dab of The Last Dab hot sauce and immediately regretted it. We also all bonded over our love for board games and you can bet there’s a date night planned in our future. Wingspan, anyone?
I am so excited for their wedding next year at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences! But for now please enjoy a few of my favorite images from their spring engagement session at Duke Gardens!
