We first met with Christina + Drew over coffee at Sir Walter Coffee in downtown Raleigh which is a slightly funny story. We chose this coffee house because of the ample outdoor seating and of course delicious caffeinated drinks and were hoping that a Sunday afternoon would be quiet. Well, we were so incredibly wrong! We luckily were able to find a table, but we waited about 30 minutes for our coffee and tea, which is INSANE to me but thankfully Christina + Drew didn’t mind and we had a conversation full of laughs and discussing dogs which helped the time fly by.

We originally planned their engagement session for June, but with all of the pandemic lockdown orders we pushed back their session. Once the orders cleared up we got lucky with an incredibly warm October afternoon with hardly anyone around at the WRAL Azalea Gardens and the North Carolina Museum of Art. I will say we’ve worked with plenty of tall couples, but I think these two may be the tallest – Christina is 5’11 and Drew is 6’8!! As a shortie standing at 5’0 it was definitely a height difference so I spent most of the session standing far away and using a long lens to keep a normal perspective other than looking straight up at them.

These two enjoy taking swing dance classes together and were more than happy to share some of their moves with us! Now we didn’t try to recreate their moves of course but we did get some pretty cool shots of them!
