We met up with Rachel and Andy last week at Duke Gardens for their spring engagement session. We were worried about the drop in temperatures early in the week, but then we had a beautiful 80 degree day for their session with the best light! All of us were ecstatic to see the beautiful spring blooms and greenery throughout Duke Gardens. We had a wonderful time goofing around while snapping some engagement photos for them.
They chose Duke Gardens after looking at several different locations. They had never been to the gardens before but loved the photos they saw online. We focused on the two most iconic locations in the garden: the central fountain and tulip garden. The sunlight shining down created a natural, romantic glow around them and with the beautiful blooms popping up throughout the garden provided the most beautiful backdrop for some truly stunning photos!
Rachel and Andy met while they were in college at Virginia Tech. Rachel graduated first and moved to Maryland for a couple of years so they continued their relationship long distance. Once Andy graduated and moved down to Durham for his new job, Rachel quickly moved to join him. Throughout the entire shoot, the couple’s chemistry was electric! They were laughing, joking around and having a great time, which made for some of the most genuine and beautiful moments of the day.
Once we were done with their session we all leisurely walked through the rest of the gardens together just chatting about their upcoming wedding. Then we all headed to dinner at Viceroy in downtown Durham for some delicious Indian food. We got to know each other even better over dinner and chatted about their upcoming move to Ireland later this year. Rachel and Andy, if you ever want photos in Ireland, hit me up!!
I’m so excited to share with you Rachel + Andy’s stunning spring engagement session at Duke Gardens! I absolutely can’t wait for their wedding later this year!
